Maple Bacon Roasted Brussel Sprouts
Maple Bacon Roasted Brussels Sprouts are a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and smoky flavors that elevate this simple vegetable to a standout dish. Fresh Brussels sprouts are roasted until tender and caramelized, with crispy, golden-brown bacon and a drizzle of pure maple syrup. The sweetness of the maple syrup complements the salty crunch of the bacon, while roasting brings out the Brussels sprouts' natural nuttiness. This recipe makes a wonderful side dish, ideal for holiday dinners or a cozy weeknight meal, and pairs well with grilled meats or hearty main courses.

Ingredients

  • (1.5 lbs) Brussel Sprouts, trimmed & halved
  • (4 oz) Bacon
  • (2 tbsp) Pure Maple Syrup
  • (2 tbsp) Olive Oil
  • (1/2 tsp) Kosher Salt
  • (1/4 tsp) Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • (1) Shallot, diced

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Prep your Brussel Sprouts by trimming the ends, cutting them in half lengthwise, and gently drying with paper towels. Remove any wilted leaves, but keep any good ones that have fallen off.
  3. In a large bowl, toss your sprouts and minced shallot with the olive oil, salt, and pepper. Make sure everything is evenly coated.
  4. Spread on a large baking sheet, cut side down.
  5. Sprinkle the uncooked, chopped bacon over the sprouts.
  6. Roast for about 20-25 minutes, until they are tender and starting to brown.
  7. Drizzle maple syrup over the sprouts and bacon, then return to the oven for another 5-10 minutes until everything is caramelized.
