The Perfect Prime Rib
December 28, 2025 • 0 comments
A beautifully roasted prime rib takes center stage—seasoned simply with garlic, rosemary, and thyme, then slow-roasted until tender and juicy with a perfectly crisp, golden crust. Each slice is rich, buttery, and deeply beefy, served with its natural jus for a finishing touch. Paired with comforting, classic sides, this is a meal meant to be savored slowly—gathered around the table, shared with good company, and enjoyed the way special meals should be.

- (1 cup) Butter
- (7 cloves, minced) Garlic
- (2 tbs) Rosemary
- (2 tbs) Thyme
- (2 tbs) Salt
- (1 tbs) Pepper
- (2 tbs) Flour
- (2 cups) Beef Stock
Directions
In a bowl, mix the soft butter with garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Rub the herb butter all over the prime rib, covering every surface.
Place the roast on a rack in a roasting pan.
Roast in the hot oven for about 5 minutes per pound (e.g., ~25 minutes for a 5 lb roast).
Turn off the oven and let the roast sit in the closed oven for 2 hours without opening the door—this gentle heat finishes the cook for juicy, evenly cooked meat.
Remove the roast and slice into thick cuts.
Optional: Use the pan drippings to make a simple gravy—heat drippings on the stove, whisk in flour, add beef stock until smooth and bubbling.
Serve with mashed potatoes, green beans, or your favorite sides!
