Ancestral Blend Shepherd's Pie
A cozy classic with a nutrient-dense twist — this version uses our Ancestral Blend Ground Beef, combining premium ground beef with liver and heart for a boost of vitamins and rich flavor. Perfect for chilly fall nights!

Ingredients

  • (1 lb.) Ancestral Blend Ground Beef
  • (1 tbsp) Olive Oil or Butter
  • (1 medium) Onion, diced
  • (2) Carrots, diced
  • (1 cup) Peas, fresh or frozen
  • (2 tbsp) Tomato Paste
  • (1 cup) Beef Broth
  • (1 tsp) Worcestershire Sauce
  • (1 tsp) Thyme
  • (to taste) Salt & Pepper
  • (3 cups) Mashed Potatoes, leftover or fresh

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large skillet, heat oil or butter. Add onion and carrots; cook until softened.
  3. Add the Ancestral Blend ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  5. Stir in peas, then spoon the mixture into a baking dish. Spread mashed potatoes evenly over top.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the top is lightly golden.
  7. Let cool a few minutes before serving — then dig in and taste the difference that real, nutrient-dense beef makes!
